The lights that are placed in your garden provide beautiful illumination as well as security. They can be placed to highlight certain aspects of your yard, such as a fountain or a flower garden. Lights can also be used to illuminate walkways. If you don’t want to install lights close to the ground, then consider a garden post light that can often illuminate more areas in your yard.
Size When you’re looking for lights to place in your yard, consider the size of the fixture. If you’re using a post with a light on the top, then you can usually use a smaller fixture as the light will be able to shine farther than it would if it were positioned closer to the ground. If the post light is placed near your porch or near your mailbox, then consider a smaller fixture instead of a larger one that you might place on your deck or patio.
Colors Although you might not think that the colors of the light posts that you use would matter that much, you want to get something that’s going to accent the exterior of your home. Metallic colors often work well with exteriors that are lighter, such as silver against blue backgrounds. Golden shades often pair well with exterior colors that are warmer, such as brown or brick.
Choosing the Lights After you have the garden post light in place, you can start looking for the bulbs that will be used in the fixture. LED lights are often brighter, which is beneficial if you’re trying to illuminate an area for security purposes. They often last longer as well and use less energy. Lights that you choose should be durable in water and other types of weather conditions so that you don’t have to replace them throughout the year.
